History

The Center for Mathematical Sciences (CCM) has its origin in the Institute for Mathematics, it was founded in 1990 to Foster the develpment of mahtematics in the sate of Miachoacán. After 21 years of uninterrupted work, of greatly contibuting to the stengthtening of highly specialized research groups and to de scientific and cultural development in the state, the University Council (Consejo Universitario) of UNAM aproved the constitution of the Center for Mathematicas Sciencies on June 17th, 2011 as a new entity of the research system of the university.

The University Council ruled the CCM to foment those areas that have poor development in the country, specially those related to applications of mathematical methods in biology and physics, as well as stregthening those that were present in the Center.

Mission

The Center for Mathematical Sciences has as its missions to perform research in all areas of Mathematics and its applications; to contribute to instruct future researchers in the mathematical sciences and other disciplines; to promote the recognition in the society of the beauty, the power and the importance of the mathematical methods and ideas in our world.
